The Lithophiles have provided a Scholarship to one or two graduate students at CSUEB for more then 40 years. This scholarship is in the form of a Brunton Transit. The Brunton is used in Field Geology and the recipient is chosen by the teaching staff at CSUEB from students who show the best potential for going into Field Geology.

The Lithophiles provided funds for a Graduate Student at San Francisco State University for procuring some special rock samples to the study of how pressure on rocks interact in predicting Earthquakes.
